The analogy of double-mindedness being like autoimmune disease, where the body attacks itself, is very accurate and powerful. As someone who suffers from auto-immune disease and its irreversible effects, that was a loud warning, for sure.

When I think about myself, my home, the church with a biblical perspective, I’m reminded that I have to have a biblical perspective! I cannot pursue money, comforts, security, or other things that the world celebrates and be focused on Christ, and be in unity with Christ or even other believers. Having a biblical worldview in every area of my life means possibly being counter-cultural in what my life/home looks like. The questions is am I bold enough to walk it out? I believe unity in Christ will be a result of that pursuit in my life, in my home, and in my local body.

Something God has been showing me is that the Unity of the Body of Christ is essential, especially as the world becomes less accepting of Christian values and morals. The way He has specifically showed me and challenged me is to be relational with those around me. So much of our issues and infighting can be solved with rich, deep relationships with one another. If we believe the best in others, that the Spirit is indeed at work in their life and that they are fully devoted to Christ, we are then bound by stronger bonds than political, social, ethnic, or educational ties and we will be able to stand firm, together, against whatever this world has to throw at us.
