Author's Note: The authority of Believers when it comes to the subject of sickness is often debated among Evangelical theologians. That said, most theologians in the cessationist camp (name given to those who believe that the gifts of the Spirit are no longer operational in the church) believe that God can heal, but that the spiritual gift of healing has ceased. Laying that aside, Believers today indeed have the authority to pray for healing. There are no scriptures that discourage the practice of praying for healing, coupled with scriptures that do encourage us to pray for those that are sick.
