Scripture Reading: Psalm 40:1-17 NASB95 I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. [2] He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. [3] He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the LORD. [4] How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust, And has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood. [5] Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which You have done, And Your thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, They would be too numerous to count. [6] Sacrifice and meal offering You have not desired; My ears You have opened; Burnt offering and sin offering You have not required. [7] Then I said, “Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me. [8] I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your Law is within my heart.” [9] I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great congregation; Behold, I will not restrain my lips, O LORD, You know. [10] I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have spoken of Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great congregation. [11] You, O LORD, will not withhold Your compassion from me; Your lovingkindness and Your truth will continually preserve me. [12] For evils beyond number have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see; They are more numerous than the hairs of my head, And my heart has failed me. [13] Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me; Make haste, O LORD, to help me. [14] Let those be ashamed and humiliated together Who seek my life to destroy it; Let those be turned back and dishonored Who delight in my hurt. [15] Let those be appalled because of their shame Who say to me, “Aha, aha!” [16] Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let those who love Your salvation say continually, “The LORD be magnified!” [17] Since I am afflicted and needy, Let the Lord be mindful of me. You are my help and my deliverer; Do not delay, O my God.

Scripture Reading: Psalm 40:1-17 NASB95

Scripture Reading: The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father's God, and I will exalt Him. Ex 15:2 (NKJV) This happens to be one of those rare places where the "old" King James translators did a better job than those that worked on the NKJV. The NKJV reads: "He is my God, and I will praise Him." The King James Version reads:"He is my God and I will prepare Him a habitation." This translation is much more faithful rendering of the original Hebrew. Moses led the Children of Israel across the Red Sea and then watched as God swept away the army of the Pharaoh that was chasing them. Moses and the Children then sang a song of praise unto God. The song contained this interesting promise: "I will prepare Him (God) a habitation." A short time later Moses made good on his promise and the tent of Moses became the first Tabernacle of Israel and the place where God dwelled. We know that God is omnipresent, which means that God is everywhere at the same time. But, in fact, the Tabernacle of Israel and later the Temple in Jerusalem was a specific place set aside as a habitation for God. Moses' tent has long since disintegrated and the Romans destroyed the last Jewish Temple in Jerusalem almost two thousand years ago, but there is a new temple that has been set aside as a habitation for God. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, you are that temple. God , the Holy Spirit dwells in us. Jesus said this concerning the Holy Spirit, "You will know Him for He will live with you and will live in you!" Just think about it--the power that created the universe is living in you...what are the possibilities as a habitation for God? Questions to Consider:
Scripture Reading: Psalm 34:1-3 NASB95 I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. [2] My soul will make its boast in the LORD; The humble will hear it and rejoice. [3] O magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together. Philippians 4:4-7 NASB95 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! [5] Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. [6] Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. [7] And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. I have spent an enormous amount of energy focusing on the issues that plague America. Moral issues, political issues, spiritual issues. Our country is a wreck. A moral and spiritual wreck. And I have been preoccupied by focusing in on the wreck. It finally dawned on me this last week, that my focus on what is wrong with America has undermined my ability to bless the Lord at all times. It has caused me to stop rejoicing in the Lord. I decided that I was going to stop complaining about the state of our country and allow the praise of God to be continually in my mouth. I had the first challenge to my new resolve when I filled up my pickup with gas. (Let us just say that the prices are higher than what I like) As I was pumping the gas I began to sing songs of worship. The price of gas does not take away from the fact that our God is worthy to be praised. A.W. Tozer said, "If Bible Christianity is to survive the present world upheaval, we shall need to have a fresh revelation of the greatness and the beauty of Jesus.... He alone can raise our cold hearts to rapture and restore again the art of true worship.” A.W. Tozer If Bible Christianity is to survive the present world upheaval, we shall need to have a fresh revelation of the greatness and the beauty of Jesus.... He alone can raise our cold hearts to rapture and restore again the art of true worship.” If we desire God's Kingdom to come to earth as it is in heaven, then there must be continual worship flowing forth from God's people. We must "be" a people who worship God in spirit and in truth. We must "be" a people who praise the Lord regardless of life's challenges. Questions to Consider:
Scripture Reading: Psalm 33:1-22 Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones; Praise is becoming to the upright. [2] Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; Sing praises to Him with a harp of ten strings. [3] Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy. [4] For the word of the LORD is upright, And all His work is done in faithfulness. [5] He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the lovingkindness of the LORD. [6] By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host. [7] He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deeps in storehouses. [8] Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. [9] For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. [10] The LORD nullifies the counsel of the nations; He frustrates the plans of the peoples. [11] The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart from generation to generation. [12] Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance. [13] The LORD looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men; [14] From His dwelling place He looks out On all the inhabitants of the earth, [15] He who fashions the hearts of them all, He who understands all their works. [16] The king is not saved by a mighty army; A warrior is not delivered by great strength. [17] A horse is a false hope for victory; Nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength. [18] Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who hope for His lovingkindness, [19] To deliver their soul from death And to keep them alive in famine. [20] Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield. [21] For our heart rejoices in Him, Because we trust in His holy name. [22] Let Your lovingkindness, O LORD, be upon us, According as we have hoped in You. Scripture Reading: Isaiah 6:1-8 KJV In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. [2] Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. [3] And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. [4] And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. [5] Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. [6] Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: [7] And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. [8] Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. I have been writing about fear all week or rather "no fear." I am starting the "Family Worship" with a song that I used to play every Sunday morning for my family called, "Fear Not" by Dave Bell. Talk about a song that talks to where "we" the church are today. This song says it all: "God is in Control!!!!!!" Amen! Click below for the worship set for Sunday: Worship Music - GOSPEL OF MARK PROJECT (weebly.com) Worship is a powerful weapon we have been given to fight our battles in the spiritual warfare we are all entangled in. As Jesus was coming into Jerusalem in what we call the 'Triumphal Entry' in Matthew 21; Jesus enters into the temple and cleanses it of its idolatry and business mindedness. This then causes the blind and lame to come to Him and the children began to shout “Hosanna to the Son of David”. The chief priests and scribes become indignant about the children shouting those words in the temple and the ask Jesus if He hears what they are saying. Jesus responds to them with an Old Testament text that provides insight into the power of worship and praise. Jesus says in Matthew 21:26b-- And Jesus said to them, “Yes; have you never read, ‘OUT OF THE MOUTH OF INFANTS AND NURSING BABIES YOU HAVE PREPARED PRAISE FOR YOURSELF’?” Isn't it beautiful that the Almighty Lord, Creator of all things has prepared to use infants and nursing babies for praise for Himself? The power of simple, innocent worship out of the mouths of the children of God. What's very interesting about this verse is that Jesus slightly changes the original text in Psalm 8:2. Psalm 8:2 says: From the mouths of infants and nursing babies You have established strength Because of Your enemies, To do away with the enemy and the revengeful. Jesus has interchanged the word 'strength' in Psalm 8:2 for the word 'praise' in Matthew 21:16. Why do you think this is? One of the reasons is because Jesus is providing insight into the power and strength when simple children praise. When we look at the original text that Jesus is quoting from, we see that when we as children praise, there is strength provided. When we as children praise, the Lord establishes His strength on our behalf. When we as children praise, the Lord does away with our enemy and the revengeful spirits that afflict us. Today, if you find yourself under the attack of the enemy, become like a child again and run to your Father in praise and adoration. Open your mouth and let praises flow in the presence of your enemy, and then rest and see the strength that your Father will provide.
