"Do you mortify? Do you make it your daily work? Be always at it whilst you live; cease not a day from this work; be killing sin or it will be killing you." John Owen Scripture to Reflect on:
2 Corinthians 7:10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death. Revelation 2: 4-5 But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place—unless you repent.

Read Ezekiel 14: 1-6 1 Some of the elders of Israel came to me and sat down in front of me. 2 Then the word of the Lordcame to me: 3 “Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling blocksbefore their faces. Should I let them inquire of me at all? 4 Therefore speak to them and tell them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: When any of the Israelites set up idols in their hearts and put a wicked stumbling block before their faces and then go to a prophet, I the Lord will answer them myself in keeping with their great idolatry. 5 I will do this to recapture the hearts of the people of Israel, who have all deserted me for their idols.’ 6 “Therefore say to the people of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Repent! Turn from your idols and renounce all your detestable practices!

Questions to Consider
Something to consider as we read through the book of Mark is how Jesus was misunderstood; really how the first advent of the messiah was missed! Is He a prophet, a teacher, a carpenter? Even Peter who declared to Jesus, "You are the Messiah" in Mark 8:29 turned around in Mark 8:32-33 and rebuked Jesus for teaching about the suffering and rejection, of the messiah, that would take place. The people of Israel were so focused on their "kingdom of THIS world" and their mighty conquering King, who would break the shackles of the Roman Empire, that they completely missed what the Kingdom of God is truly about and who the suffering servant in Isaiah 53 is revealed to be, namely Jesus. How we view Jesus matters, He is both the glory and greatness of God seen in Isaiah 6 and the sacrificial lamb in Isaiah 53 and He is coming back! Questions to Consider:
