Finding Rest

Mark 3:20-30 20 And He came home, and the crowd gathered again, to such an extent that they could not even eat a meal. 21 When His own people heard of this, they went out to take custody of Him; for they were saying, “He has lost His senses.” 22 The scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.” 23 And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but [l]he is finished! 27 But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house. 28 “Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— 30 because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

In the highlighted part of the passage we see Jesus, and presumably his disciples, busy with ministering to the masses so much so that they could not even eat. Notice that Jesus does not call his disciples away but they continue in the work they were doing. Busyness is not necessarily a bad thing, we see in Ecclesiastes 3  "
There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a
time for every event under heaven" we must be in relationship with Jesus to know when this appointed time is. The other side of the coin is finding rest, and we actually see this later in Mark 6:31 "And He *said to them, 'Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.' (For there were many people coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.)" Here is my dilemma, how do I actually find healthy, godly rest? Just being transparent, my normal time of rest tends to verge on laziness not actual rest from my work.
So the question we must ask ourselves is how we find rest in our relationship with Jesus because we are promised rest for our souls by coming to Him. Matthew 11:28-30 28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Take this time in prayer and worship to find rest for your souls in His presence.

I confess that my rest also mostly looks like laziness, rather than purposeful godly rest. This has been a longtime struggle of mine. Our church in CA had a prayer room in the mornings, so I did great at that time. I was there for a purpose and there wasn’t anything to distract me. I’m eager to see others’ ideas for how to make this time more fruitful.
